what just happened to me.

i don't even know how to describe the experience i just went through at the post office?
just went to return my vespa helmet that is too big (did it, tan!).
got some help from an unexpected helper behind me who originally looked really scary who responded to my thank you with, "that's what people are for"
just nice and casual and i really liked it!
then i needed some tape to put my pre-paid label on the box and same unexpected helper comes from behind and says, "here, now don't let this scare you".
i looked down and saw a knife that i see people use camping and didn't think anything of it untiiil!! he said, "it's a dangerous world we live in these days".
and then i registered what he has that knife for.
!!!
he cut my piece of tape and i realized i needed another piece of tape and was silently dying inside.
helper noticed the same thing and offered to cut another piece for me so i rolled out the tape and he said, "no need to hold it out so far. i'm not going to cut you"
sweetest helper. scariest words.
i looked down and realized my arms were fully extended aand that i was standing as far away as possible. so i forced out a laugh and mumbled something like "ha yeah i guessthatisprettyfarawayhahaa"

i quickly dropped off my box and rushed out the door, laughing to myself as i walk back to my car.
thenn i hear, "hey beautiful"
my automatic response, without looking up? "hii!!"
then i decided to look up and realized i definitely shouldn't have been so enthusiastic with my response.
just a big scary man creepin' on girls walking through parking lots.
so i proceeded to walk faster to my car while dying laughing even harder because i could NOT believe what was happening to me in those moments.

apparently i've got something about me that LA was loving today.
and i am still in shock from both experiences.

Post offices are hang outs for the overly (creepily) friendly I guess. One time I was sitting in the parking lot about to pull out when I see the creepy old dude in the car next to me motioning for me to roll down my window. So scary. I did so and he says to me "are you really from Idaho!?" (referring to the plates on our car) and I said no, Utah but my husband is from there. "did you drive all the way?" uhh yep! The same thing actually happened when we were stuck in traffic in Brooklyn. Now that was scary. People are real curious about Idaho I guess!
