today during my lunch break i listened to the most recent this american life podcast and loved it. i haven't finished the whole thing yet but if you'd like to join in on the fun, go here
it's a podcast dedicated to middle school/jr. high per the request of a teenage listener that just started high school in california and thought it would be helpful for teens to hear that middle school is hard for everyone. to that i say amen. it's always good to have a little perspective and know that you're not the only one having a hard time.
our YW president gave a great lesson on sunday that i hope gave our YW some perspective on their lives at the moment. she shared a few different examples from the manual of teenage girls experiencing issues that they thought nobody else dealt with (e.g. not getting asked to prom, scholarship troubles..and i don't remember the others). one of the girls didn't agree with one of the examples which allowed megan to share a personal example from her teenage years and it was absolutely perfect. though it might not seem like a big deal to some to not have the cutest clothes, be in the popular group or get asked to the dance, it might be a really big deal to someone else!
point is, it is hard to be a teenager. real hard. and i'm grateful to be in YW and witness the strength the girls in our ward/stake have as they face different challenges every day. i love hearing them talk about their friends at school and their plans of inviting friends to different church activities or events. i'm not sure if i would have been as brave as them at their age and they inspire me every day to be better.
so here's to the young women i'm learning more about each day and loving all the time.

No joke, I think we were listening to that at the same time. That last story made me so sad for that little boy. Throwing up? Glad it wasn't ever that bad for me.
It is amazing to work with the young women :) I am working with them too, we don't have that many young women in our group but it is still wonderful! And I know you are an amazing example for them Brynne :)
