portland, or: two year anniversary trip

what we learned during our trip to portland:
1. "never go to the bar the night before your early flight" (thanks to the girl in front of us in the security line that left her luggage at security who just so happened to end up on our same flight so we could let her know)
2. portland is like downtown SLC's bigger twin - it has trax, cool old buildings (but those are everywhere) and the neighborhoods all look like the avenues or sugarhouse
3. mother's bistro has the coolest decor, prettiest chandeliers and is a great stop for brunch
4. hotel monaco is the place to go for decoration inspiration.
...no learning from this artwork but the river was full of words like "smiles" and other hippie words and it was really entertaining.
5. best way to look pregnant: layer 4 items of clothing underneath a winter coat
6. there is a reason why people call patagonia patagucci - so expensive but those baby snow suits were the sweeeetest!
7. tanner will never show show our baby off by holding it by the neck
8. best place to display art work is on a telephone pole for passerbys to appreciate
9. greenery is just so friendly and makes the world so much happier
10. tonalli's is the place to go for donuts - not voodoo donuts
think banana bread donut with maple on top.
11. brandon and breanne madsen are a delightful couple and great tour guides
12. pitch perfect really is just as funny as everyone has said
13. portland city grill has beautiful views of the city at night and is a perfect place for an anniversary dinner
14. the maps app does not know where portland city grill is and will have you walk an extra mile in heels if you follow its directions
15. bunk sandwiches has the best breakfast sandwiches
16. moss makes everything look cooler and prettier
17. the downtown portland branch has lots of cool couples and will provide you with a unique church going experience
18. mini macaroons are the cuuutest things to look at
19. salt and straw ice cream will forever live in our hearts as the best ice cream we have and possibly will ever eat
20. pear w/blue cheese ice cream will change your life
21. freckled woodblock chocolate ice cream will surpass any other chocolate ice cream you've ever loved
22. some of the coolest art exhibits can be found in libraries
23. pop up book art exhibits are incredibly inspirational - like this shadow puppet book. what?!
24. the best looking boutiques are always the most expensive (we already knew this but it's always sad to have this one rubbed in)
25. andy warhol has great quotes
26. once more with the moss - look at that tree!

27. portland can also remind you of korea with the river running through the middle
28. river water is totally calming and makes for a lovely place to take a sunday afternoon stroll
29. when you vacation with two, you rarely take pics together.
30. stars are just like us. tabitha and napoleon from SYTYCD were on our same flight and not even in first class. i stared at them for 3 hours straight. (that's napoleon standing with the baby in the very uninteresting photo below)
31. nappy tabs baby is the fattest and cutest
32. airport parking lots are safe and reliable - i accidentally left my nice cam on the floor in the front seat of our car while we were gone and it was not even stolen!!

happy anniversary trip to us!
we < 3 you, portland!

Oh my word! I thought the woman in #29 was my Aunt Linda. Hello?!?!? Can a daughter be her mom's twin?!
