cass, ty and their kids just moved back from texas so we decided to head down to SG asap to welcome the torres family back to utah. the weather on the way down was really stormy and quite perfect if you ask us. we got caught in a lightning storm which made for pretty skies all around after the weather cleared. i loved rainstorms growing up and now i love them even more after going a couple years without them in LA.
we got in kind of late so not much fun was to be had with the fam friday night with the exception of a late night chat but things got started bright and early saturday when pretty much the entire fam went out for their long run together. the whole family is running the bryce canyon half this weekend (including tan now thanks to sister katie!) and close to everyone is running the sg marathon in the fall (tan will be running the big cottonwood marathon a couple weeks before since he didn't make it in through the lottery) so everyone is in full training mode. we gathered at cravings after to fill up on their delicious breakfast and see the torres clan and had a really nice time.
cass and her family hadn't met morris yet either so there was plenty of baby loving going around on both sides. we can't get enough of those beautiful torres kids.
after breakfast we headed to the torres' house to play for a bit before swimming at the freis. tessa and ella were being such great cousins to little morrie.
nick and liisa built this awesome castle out of moving boxes for the kids with a drawbridge and everything. the girls played in it all afternoon with maddi and occasionally ty even.
while tan played with that awesome thing on his head...which i'm just now realizing you might not be able to tell his head is inside the toy but trust me, it is.

it was so fun being back at the frei home and awesome watching all the brothers play around in the pool with the kids and then, of course, find some way to make a climbing game out of nothing.
just some good summer scenes right there.
the rest of saturday wasn't documented but was still lots of fun. ty invited us to his family party to celebrate him finishing his residency (is that what he just finished? i'm a good sister-in-law) for dental school. they went all out with everything dental oriented, games and an ice cream cake with a picture of cass and ty on it! it was really awesome and fun to hang out with ty's family. they're always really nice to us and it was fun seeing them again since we hadn't seen them since right before we moved to LA.
after the party, liisa and nick watched morris while tan, maddi, jordan, moses and i headed off to see despicable me 2. i'd like to say we were all excited to go but i might just be speaking for two of us. jordan and moses bailed on the way to the movie because they were so tired which left me, maddi and tanner and we all ended up falling asleep during the movie! but we did make a vine clip on maddi's account before going into the movie and stayed awake for about 30 minutes into it sooo...
anyway, morris woke up at 6:30 on sunday morning and liisa was already awake so she offered to take morris so we could sleep in a little longer. we sleepily agreed and woke up at 10:30! what in the world?! we really never sleep in - even before we had morris - so we were pretty blown away and obviously well rested so it was pretty exciting. we hurried and got dressed and attended church soon at 11.

lindsey, scott and their son, nicholas! we haven't seen them since christmas since they're in virginia for dental school and were really excited to find out they're spending the summer in utah as well. their little nicholas has already been walking for 2 months and he's only 10 months old! i died over how cute and happy he was and they were so cute with little morris.
scott and tanner have pretty much hit their life milestones together since they've been friends (farewells together, entering the MTC together, engaged on the same day, married 3 days apart...) so it's pretty fun that we even started our families pretty close together with nicholas and morris being about 9 months apart.
we visited grandma frei in the afternoon and i always love the sign below. those crazy seniors!
it was fun being there with so much of the family and seeing nick with his mom. i'm glad we were able to get a group pic thanks to my self-timer app! and news flash - it works way better when the sound on your phone is on because you can actually tell when it's going to take a picture!

the rest of the afternoon was spent at home playing with the babies and eating delicious food prepared by nick and liisa.

we were sad to leave so soon but are excited to be able to hang with the family this weekend at the cabin! and i think the world was just wanting us to love it all weekend because we got a rainstorm on the way home too including the most beautiful rainbow(s) eva eva.
big success of a weekend overall!
