a frei family reunion of sorts.

immediately following the wedding reception on friday, tan and i went home, packed and took off for the family cabin in panguitch lake. we were both exhausted already and had to stop in nephi for a quick nap at 1 am. unfortunately, morris decided to wake up just then to eat so i wasn't able to nap but had slept from provo - nephi so i got a little more sleep. we switched drivers so tan could get sleep since he was running the bryce canyon half in just a few hours. never mind that he decided to run it on thursday and use katie's number since she decided not to do it. no big deal. 

anyway, thanks to the format and paramore (flashback to 2006), we arrived safely around 4:30 am - just in time to change our clothes and hop back into the car to head to the starting line with the rest of the fam! tan ran this race in 2011 so it was fun to reminisce back to that summer and drive the course again. he did great and finished with iuri in under 2 hours. every single one of the frei children plus chandra and moses ran the race so it was fun driving past and being able to cheer everyone on with liisa.

too bad my mini run alongside tanner with an almost kiss on the lips wasn't captured on cam when we saw him run through tropic. it was sooo romantic

berk finished 22nd overall and got 3rd in his age division! :-o

the drive home from the race was a bit of a struggle since i only had 30 minutes of sleep in me and didn't want to make the runners drive since they were all exhausted. let it be known that the bryce canyon course is not an easy one - such a steep downhill and everyone is always sooo sore after. i wouldn't know personally but i've witnessed it twice now haa.

we got home around 10 and everyone had breakfast while i napped and then i have no sense of time after that since the cabin doesn't get reception, my phone was dead and no one keeps track of time while we're there. it's one of the best things about the frei family cab - everyone is unplugged the entire time. it's so good for the soul.

i woke up to voices on the deck and found everyone out there watching the cattle that had come really close to the cabin

we love having the torres family here and had so much fun playing with them at the cabin! also - it thrills me whenever any of them want to be my friend and let me feel like a real aunt to them. i'm so used to being an aunt to the babies in my family that it's fun to have nieces and a nephew on the other side of the family to play with now too! babies everywhere and i love it.

oh and how beautiful is tessa? seriously.

liisa had everyone bring up white shirts to tie dye for a family photo so we all had fun tie dying that afternoon and i loved all of the bright colors popping up on the table as a result.

berk and tan played horseshoes for hours saturday afternoon and were both quite good at it if you ask me. 

 

chan and i joined them for a game and let's say i do better at other things. like expressing myself through my hands and body as shown below.

while everyone was outside playing, liisa and nick were inside building the cutest fairy house for tessa and ella.

saturday night brought s'mores using waffle cones instead of graham crackers and they were deelish. just don't keep them in the fire too long or they will burn burn burn right up.

we snuck over to the panguitch lake branch for church sunday after breakfast and changed into our tie dye shirts for a family photo after we got home. let it be known that the test photos taken before this family photo were not blurry and i am so embarrassed that the ones that matter are! but look at this happy frei fam. so happy to be part of it.

we cleaned the cabin up quickly and then had some quiet time with our little morris before hopping back in the car and heading home. like i said before, it's the best to be unplugged and together for a weekend. we always love a weekend up at the frei family cabin!
