the weekend we were parents.

tan just left to drop val off for school and is headed to an early morning surf session in manhattan beach right after with dan andrus. he could not be more thrilled to have an excuse to surf there.

we had so much fun playing parents to val over the weekend and quickly remembered that we have absolutely no toys in our home to keep kids happy. luckily the weather was great all weekend so we had lots of trips to different parks and were able to enjoy being outside all weekend long. the sunshine did plenty of good for our souls and also saved us from watching one million movies to replace our lack of a toy supply.

yesterday after church we headed to our favorite little park in culver city and played bocce ball for a little bit before heading over to the playgrounds. i totally won and tanner is hooked on the game so it was a really big success overall.

val was a great little helper while we played a short version of bocce ball before heading to the park.

 tanner wins EVERYTHING and was laughing so hard when we saw how close my ball got because he knew how happy i'd be.

he was right. i couldn't have been prouder of myself.

she loooved the swings so much all weekend and we finally remembered how to do the underdog trick. start from behind - not from the front. why was that so hard for us to figure out?

 val climbs like her grandpa jeff. just scurried all the way to the top by herself like it was no problem!
